BibleProject Annual 2025 - Flipbook - Page 60
Throughout the Bible, God often leads people on unusual paths that look
impossible. Gideon couldn’t deny that the angel of Yahweh appeared to
him, but it must have been difficult to see God’s exact footsteps when
he was given the impossible task of sneaking around the Midianite camp
with only 300 men holding trumpets and small torches (Judg. 6-8). David
knew from Samuel’s visit that he was destined to become king of Israel.
But he struggled to discern God’s way when the path to kingship took an
unexpected twist, and he had to flee into the wilderness and hide in caves to
escape Saul (1 Sam. 16, 24-26).
We could multiply examples, but the pattern is clear. God’s path can be
a clear route through the sea, but that doesn’t mean it will be easy to see
God’s tracks in each next decision.
So what can we do? Just take another step. And then another one. And trust
that God will give us the wisdom we need to follow his way.
That has been exactly the way God has led BibleProject over the last 11
years. Our mission is clear, and we’re honored to walk this path along
with you. We cannot predict where God’s footsteps might lead in the year
to come, but we’ve got a strong hunch it involves helping more people
experience the Bible as a unified story that leads to Jesus. There will be
surprises that we could never have planned, and that’s a good thing. God’s
indiscernible footsteps usually lead to gifts we never could have imagined.
